In the fashion, make up and hair industries you are constantly required to be creative and innovative. Some days you will lack inspiration. Whenever you feel like the ideas simply aren’t coming there are things you can do to get yourself back on track.
- Disconnect- Turn off your computer, cellphone and tablets! Even if it’s only for an afternoon you should shut it all down, it is a distraction. Constantly checking emails and social media or looking at the internet isn’t going to inspire you. At most you’re going to just take someone else’s idea and try to pass it off as your own.
- A Change of Scenery- This could be going for a walk down the street or through a park, get some fresh air and recharge your creativity. Take whatever you’re working on to a coffee shop or park bench. Different surroundings will give you a new perspective.
- Talk it out- Make plans with friends to bounce ideas off of each other, they might see things differently, giving you a fresh perspectives. Even if you don’t use any of the ideas that they have, listening to other creative people will get your brain thinking in a more innovative way. Consider it a brainstorming session with the added benefit of laughs with friends.
Whatever you do I suggest breaking out of your normal routine, normal can be comforting and easy, but creativity is all about putting yourself out there and taking risks. Do something different and have fun.
