Christina Thomson The Dye Lot

Christina is co-owner of North Vancouver’s The Dye Lot, a salon which has been open on Lower Lonsdale since 2009. After graduating from JCI in 2006, Christina worked at AXIS salon for three years prior to owning her own business. As their customer base grew, The Dye Lot has expanded into two connected storefronts and added The Wig Room, which carries wigs for both fashion and compassion.

JCI HAIR SCHOOL DIFFERENCE

Reflecting back on her days as a hair student, Christina fondly remembers the great instructors she had, and the wonderful people she met during the her time at JCI. She found both friendship and industry connections at school, even starting Hair 101 (a company specializing in hair tutorials) with former classmate Sheena.

Not only did she go to JCI, but her and her business partners often choose to hire grads from our Hair and Design Program. Christina finds our graduates have a good base knowledge and strong worth ethic. She is always looking for new talent, and pushing her hair business further with additions like The Wig Room or projects such as Hair 101!

WHY SHE LOVES HER CAREER IN HAIR

Either in the salon or working with clients at a Hair 101 class, Christina’s favourite part of the job is working with people and helping them love their hair again. She thrives off the rewarding connection with her clients and is pleasantly surprised by the recognition (like being voted North Shore News’ Best Hair Salon earlier this year) that The Dye Lot receives. Fun fact: you’ll also find her passion permanently inked on her skin with an adorable scissor tattoo on her thumb!

If you want to book an appointment with Christina or anyone on the The Dye Lot team, call the salon at 778-340-3332.
