08.2017

Last week, John Casablancas Institute’s Fashion Business and Creative Arts students put together two fashion shows: Dissidence and District 157.

After months of preparing for this night, we are beyond proud of our students who put together a spectacular fashion show. The theme of the shows consisted of streetwear and cutting-edge looks styled by JCI Fashion students. Check out the highlights below:

At JCI, wonderful things happen when our students work together. A huge thank you to JCI Hair and Makeup students who contributed towards the two shows by getting the models ready to walk the runway.

The team from JCI helped with everything – from hair & makeup, to design, social media and even walking the runway!

Watch our highlights from the final day of Vancouver Fashion Week SS17, including shows by JCI grads Bonnie Chung of Je Vis Bridal and Sally Sadusky of Sally Omeme. Check out the video below for a look behind the scenes at Vancouver Fashion Week with JCI.

JCI Makeup Talk: IMATS Vancouver 2016

08
07.2016

Can you believe that we’re about a week away from IMATS Vancouver 2016? IMATS is like Christmas to us and we’re getting more and more as we approach this exciting weekend!

If you haven’t already heard, IMATS Vancouver, which is happening on July 16-17th at the Vancouver Convention Center,  is one of the most anticipated makeup events of the year. You can network with industry leaders and meet top make-up artists, schools and shops working in the TV and film industries. There’s also a wide range of classes and vendors where you can get insider information and stock up your makeup kit.

What’s even more exciting is the Battle Of The Brushes! This makeup competition is open to students of a recognized makeup school and to those who have graduated 12 months prior to the competition date. Last year JCI had 8 graduates and students who participated in the competition (Check out the video below!). This year, we’re delighted to have 5 JCI makeup artists representing the school, with Molly McKay competing in the Star Wars-themed Character Prosthetic category on Saturday July 16th and Samantha St John, Megan Sheppard, Tiera Murray, and Jessica Lust competing in the carnival/circus-themed Beauty Fantasy category. The ladies have been dedicating a lot of time and effort to prepare for this special event – you don’t want to miss it!

The JCI Booth (#511) will be packed with excitement as the JCI IMATS Team will be demonstrating their own beauty and prosthetic looks. Make sure to come by the booth to watch or even just to say Hello. There’s also a makeup museum that boasts some of the most fascinating special effects makeups you’ll ever see. If you’ve got some money to spare, don’t forget to check out some of the vendors, including NYX Cosmetics, MAKEUP FOREVER, Suva Beauty, Morphe Brushes, and more! For a complete and map of booths, you can refer to the floor plan here: IMATS Vancouver 2016 Exhibitor List .

Whether this is your first IMATS or 4th, there’s always something fun lingering around IMATS. If you come by, come cheer on the girls during their Battle Of The Brushes or come by the booth and chat! In the meantime, tune into our blog as we’ll be highlighting and getting to know all the Battle Of The Brushes candidates next week!
