Happy Mani Monday!
Who said we have to say bye to Summer? We can’t seem to let it go just yet, which is why we’ve got a major floral nail art tutorial going on! JCI Body Spa student Alex Mancinelli shows us how to create this surprisingly easy look in just 4 steps. Paint them on all of your nails or use this design as an accent. Before you start, here are a few items that you will need for this look:
● Base coat, top coat* ● White nail lacquer ● Green nail lacquer ● Blue nail lacquer ● Purple nail lacquer ●A thin striper, nail art, or paint brush (for detail work) ● Foil, scrap paper, or anything to act as a paint palette.
*Optional, but it’s always best practice to use.
Step 1: Paint your nails with a white polish. This will be the background color of the nail. Paint one coat on all fingers. Let it dry for a couple of minutes, then paint a second coat.
Step 2: Paint on blobs of different colored polishes. We suggest complementary colors! These will be the body of the flowers.. And don’t worry, it’s okay to be messy!
Step 3: Using your striper brush and green polish, paint on smaller blobs which will act as the leaves of the flowers. One rule to keep in mind when doing this design, is quite simple: the messier, the better!
Step 4: With your striper brush and foil, mix a couple of drops of white polish with each polish color that you used for the bodies of flowers. Doing this will create a shade lighter which you will paint on to create some dept and details to your flowers. Do the same with the green leaves, or use a shade darker which Alex has done as shown.
And voila! Amazingly easy floral nail art done in no time. Remember, you don’t have to be a perfectionist when it comes to this design, or nail art in general.. Have fun with it and you’ll be pleasantly surprised with the outcome. _________________________________________________________________
