OOTD

Tell us about your OOTD (Outfit of the day) The outfit I’m sporting is my go big or go home look. It’s oversized-everything from my shirt right down to my bag and extra long pointy heels. The bf button up is my staple piece. I got it from Forever 21 8 months ago and its been treating me well. The wide leg maroon pants are a steal I got from Urban Outfitters, they’re so comfy it’s unreal. My heels are from Topshop (shhh don’t tell my bf i bought another pair). As for accessories, the giant clutch I’ve got linked to my arm is from H&M, and my hat is from Aldo which i bought about two years ago. She’s old and worn in but she does the trick.

Describe your style in three words. My style is a mix of street and boho. It’s hard to pinpoint it exactly because i’m usually all over the map, but that’s probably my best description.

What’s one Spring/Summer essential that everyone should have in their closet? One Spring/Summer essential that everyone needs is a pair of worn in high-waisted shorts. I’m not talking about the kind you get from Forever 21 that ride up you-know-where and make you question you and your bffs personal judgment while shopping. I’m talking about the old school, bought them at the thrift store-your mom wore them before you were born- kind of high-waisted jean shorts. If you can’t find a pair that fits you at the thrift store then my best suggestion is to grab a pair of jeans from your closet that you like but let’s be honest, you don’t wear a ton, and cut ’em. They’ll be your best friend this summer! Let the compliments start rolling in.

What are some of your favourite stores to shop at? Some of my fav stores are honestly thrift stores such as Community, F as in Frank, and yes even Value Village. Of course I enjoy visiting the fast fashion places and I’m known to obsess over a few pieces at Urban Outfitters every now and then, but there’s something about thrifting to me and trust me it’s not the smell. The moment when you sift through whats seems like thousands of shirts and you find something that you love AND fits you- that’s the best part about shopping. Guess it was meant to be!

If you had to choose one celebrity (or person), who would be your style icon? Work work work…Oh Rihanna all the way. She’s able to pull off effortless, unique, glam, and trendy all at the same time. Such a bad-ass.

What’s the most exciting thing about taking the JCI Fashion Business & Creative Arts Diploma Program? The most exciting thing about being in the Fashion program at JCI is realizing how far you’ve come since you started the program. It takes you to a whole new level as a student, an individual in the workforce, and also generally as a person. You’re able to talk about fashion and things related to it with knowledge and passion and people come to you to ask you for advice and you can deliver. You’re prepared. It’s pretty cool to know you can take this through life with you, regardless of where you end up.

JCI’s Fashion Business & Creative Arts Diploma Program provide students with a comprehensive overview of the fashion industry, combining creative and business elements. This diverse approach gives our grads a distinct advantage both in knowledge and skill.
