Meet JCI Hair Grad Julien Andreux. He graduated from John Casablancas Institute’s Hair Program in 2009 and since then, has been busy building up his clientele at MANE hair salon and doing creative photo shoots on the side.
Describe the moment you realized you wanted to be a hairstylist.
Throughout my childhood, my focus has always been on the artistic side of things, but the moment I realized I could create art and explore my creative outlets in hair was when my mother taught me how to do my first braid. I was intrigued and curious with hair after and started paying attention to everyone’s haircuts and styles. That’s what inspired me to become a hairstylist.
Is there a signature hairstyle that you enjoy doing?
I would say my signature hairstyle to do is flat iron curls. I like to use the flat iron to create beautiful waves and curls most of the time that I’ve adapted my own technique from when I started doing hair. As for colour I enjoy doing my signature balayage ombre which is perfect for low maintenance.
What can we expect for hair trends and styles for this coming season?
We can expect to see lots of hairstyles with texture and movement. Shorter length like medium bobs are very much trending right now as well.
If you could work on any celebrity, who would it be and why?
I’ve always wanted to do Rihanna because she has such an amazing style; she can pull off any crazy hair trend!
Do you have any favourite memories from attending JCI’s Hair Program?
My favourite memory is our graduating hair show. We were able to showcase what we learned throughout the course and put on a show with a certain theme that I thought represented me as a stylist which was daring and edgy with a mix of glam.
What advice do you have for a new hair grad entering the hair industry?
My advice for a new hair grad would be to always follow your dreams and never give up on your goals no matter how challenging it is. Work hard and play hard for your passion and you will achieve greatness.
