In the past, wedding season typically ran from late May through the Labour Day weekend. Now, the wedding blitz begins in March and goes through November. This is great news for Makeup and Hair Artists looking to fill up their weekends with prosperous bridal bookings! If you haven’t gotten in on the mobile makeup trend, now is the time to start promoting your services. Weddings are big business, and a huge consideration for most is the makeup and hair application for the bride and bridal party. A successful artist can book 4-8 weddings per month during prime wedding season at an average of $600-$1,000 per booking. If you do the math, you’ll see that this is good business, and for the most part you will still have your weekdays to promote yourself in other areas. Getting started is easy! The most important part of any successful business is to promote yourself.
Tips to Boost your Bridal Business
1. First, you will need some great images to show your work.
Try to create some specific bridal images, instead of just beauty shots. Brides want to envision themselves in their desired look, so the details are important. Be sure to do your model’s hair in a bridal style, add appropriate accessories and have them holding flowers to complete the bridal vision.
2. Next, promote your services on every social media platform to build an audience.
Be sure to include bridal rich text in your posts to help boost your SEO (Search Engine Optimization) so that you can be found when brides are googling makeup services.
3. Post new material often.
The more activity you have on your social media sites, the better! This will keep the online traffic coming your way.
4. Consider making up a batch of brochures or post cards dedicated to just your bridal services.
Leave these anywhere brides may be – gyms, bridal shops, community centres. Most venues and shops that offer bridal services have a space that other services can display their business cards, such as a community binder or wall boards.
5. Add hair to your services!
You don’t need to be qualified to cut or colour hair, but being experienced in bridal updos can really make you more in demand. The wedding day event is already jam packed. By offering to bring hair and makeup to the bridal party you are adding more time to their day and eliminating stress. You can also charge more as you will be offering two services instead of one.
