Jennine Cook was born and raised in White Rock, BC. Since she was a little girl, Jennine was fascinated by makeup “I have been experimenting with makeup since I was 6. I’m a lifer! I have always been mesmerized by beautiful products and packaging and the dramatic changes that can be made to your daily look” With this in mind, Jennine knew she wanted to pursue a career that would allow her to be creative as well as give her the opportunity to engage with innovative professionals.

Jennine started her journey by attending The New York Film Academy to study film which then led her to study costume and art design at the Vancouver Film School. She knew she was in the right field, but felt she needed to narrow down her area of focus in the film industry, which then led her to pursue makeup.

“I enrolled in the full time makeup program at John Casablancas, and before I was done the program I was already starting to work in film. I have never looked back. That was over two decades ago and I can honestly say I was born to do this.”

After graduating, Jennine focused her attention in film and television, where she worked in series on W Network’s “The Shopping Bags” and Slice Networks “Making it Big”. She also worked on commercials and films that lead her to a Leo Award nomination for Best Makeup in Short Drama in 2006. Jennine has also coached first year makeup up students who have won first place awards several times in the IMATS Battle of the Brushes competitions world wide.

“My life has changed over the years as I have started a business in makeup, had a family etc., but my one constant creative outlet  has always been makeup. No matter what stage of life you are at, makeup artistry is a career that grows with you, and JCI’s makeup artistry program sets you up with everything you need to find success in this industry.”

A love for makeup and hair, is what has driven Jennine to dedicate her career to the business of beauty. Jennine is the proud owner of Transformation, a Beauty Salon located in White Rock that offers Makeup and beauty services.

I love all aspects of my career, but the job the constantly challenges me to do my best is my business, Transformation. We are a small beauty studio that offers products and services and works with many local theatre groups, schools and individual clients to help with their makeup and beauty needs.”

When it comes to beauty, Jennine has done it all, from film and television, to being a makeup instructor and Co-Director of the Makeup Department at JCI. She is a role model in the Makeup Industry inspiring students and colleagues in her everyday life and we couldn’t be happier to have her be part of the JCI team.
