Using Axis Training Systems, the Hair Art Design Course was the first 520 hour curriculum accredited in BC. This unique and intensive program will teach you all the basics in cutting, colouring and styling. After 6 weeks of intense course work the student salon opens to the public for hands-on practical training. Barber training begins during Week 10 of the program.
The Hair Art Design program offers flexible hours including weekend and evening classes. Our highly experienced instructors continue to work in the salon industry while teaching, ensuring students are up to date on all the most cutting-edge trends and styles taught in our hair school. Barber training includes a history of men's barbering, tools of the trade, and modern approaches to men's styling and barbering. Students practice clipper work, scissors over comb, trimming facial hair, as well as hair tattooing.
Career options for students completing the Hair Art Design program include salon or spa hair stylist, sales rep., platform stylist, film/TV hair stylist, freelance stylist, or salon manager. Our graduates are recognized as some of the best young hair stylists in North America, including Katie Johnston, a Trend Vision 2011 finalist. JCI Hair Art Design program grads have maintained an over 90% placement rate since 2004.
