Geometry and Baseball- A Spring Trend Report

spring trends.jpg

Spring is here and so are the trends for the season! Here’s my report on what I love!

Designers are taking a practical approach to summer coats with a focus on trenches and waterproofs. This sounds like the perfect fashion trend for us Vancouverites. “The new waterproofs feel sporty and urban; play with zips and drawstrings and push sleeves up to the elbow,” advises Vogue‘s deputy editor Emily Sheffield.

The sporting life is back this season. An athletic aesthetic clearly took over the runways, most notably baseball caps, tennis-inspired dresses, and varsity jackets. Wear them separately or all together, either way I’m all for it! The athletic trend is comfy yet stylish, it’s perfect for girls who want to dress like a guy but still have a feminine touch.

On days I feel like standing out but not putting in much effort, I count on prints and patterns. This season we’re taking a step back to geometry class with designers using grids, triangles, concentric circles and more in their collections. For someone minimalistic with a closet full of black, adding a geometric print adds a little bit of edge.

There are so many fashion trends during the spring season so get out there and have fun playing with all the different colours, textures and prints!
