This month we have witnessed bold and memorable makeup trends that JCI Makeup Artistry students and graduates have created. Many of these trends were first seen on the runways and now have become popular on Instagram. From runway models to Instagram influencers, see the latest makeup moments this May.
If there’s anything we learned from the Spring 2018 runways, it’s that bold and neon makeup is definitely in trend. JCI Makeup Artistry graduate Shauni has mastered the art of bold makeup and we are loving this green smokey eye.
Aside from green, sunshine yellow is a popular eye color to try for summer. Below Shauni has used a yellow eye shadow from the Huda Beauty Electric Obsessions Palette. A bright yellow shade can work on any skin tone and looks flattering.
If you feel as if this sunshine shade is too daring, you can always use these bold colors for the inner or outer parts of your eyes only. This way you can still experience wearing bright eye shadows without feeling like you’re over-doing it.
One of our favorite trends we’ve seen this month on Instagram is the creation of the floral eye— “Florals? For Spring? Groundbreaking.”
This makeup look has us getting in the summer spirit and we are stunned by the creativity this trend delivers. JCI Makeup student Anne Hicks shows off her talent by creating various looks of the floral eye.
Ditch your lipsticks at home because the lip gloss trend has returned this year with shimmery effects. We’ve seen many beauty bloggers switch over to using shiny glosses and it’s a simple yet stunning look to have for summer. Even the Kardashians are on board. Makeup Artistry graduate Sarah House wears her glossy lips with a bright makeup look, another trend we’ve witnessed this season. The brighter the better!
There’s always different ways to play with glitters and sparkles. This season we’ve noticed glitter applied to the inner eye a new and blooming trend. JCI Makeup graduate Kenya Kennedy shows off her gold glitter with warm makeup tones.
