Want to have the most buzzed about ‘do this summer? Join the Bob clan and chop it off! The Long Bob, Chin-length Bob, and Box Bob are everywhere this summer. Top it off with a new glossy colour , and you’re set.
The Lob (Long Bob) is the new way to wear long hair with blunt ends- a wavy-textured finish and little to no layers. It’s a great way to try out a shorter length, but have all the styling of long hair: waves, straight, top knots etc. Try some colour-dipped ends for this year’s best new trend in hair! Jewel-toned balayage can show off the blunt ends of this great haircut. Make sure to be using a texture spray to finish for movement.
Chin-length Bobs are great for fine- to medium-thick hair types, as this length can be hard to tame if it’s too thick! Also, finished off with some soft waves and a beach spray, this bob is super easy to style and wear! The bluntness or angle of it should be very dependent on the width of the wearer’s face. Be careful to not accentuate an already round face! Go for an all-over colour,or a moody root melting into lighter ends for a colour change. A wand can quickly give a vintage look to this Bob when brushed out and moving all in the same direction.
The Box Bob, short in the nape and mostly worn with a fringe is perfect for fine hair! Thick hair ladies, opt for an undercut to really mix things up! An undercut is an edgy way to take away weight and give movement to thick hair worn in bobs. Fine hair can be worn in bobs with minimal layering and an all-over colour for depth and thickness. This classic Bob screams for a sleek finish, but can easily have a beachy finish with a flat iron to give a subtle bend to the hair. Want to really go for it? Try a vivid tone like pink or purple with this trendy new short ‘do to really go for it this summer!
Whatever you do this summer, get your chop on and try out something new! Remember that all cuts are $10 in the salon at JCInstitute and men’s cuts are free on Sunday’s this summer!
