For those of you who are wondering if silver hair is still in style- it is. Silver hued locks are still trending, but the range of hues, tints, shades, and highlights continue to expand. From deep gunmetals, to soft silvery lilacs all things silver will be the ‘hot’ colour this winter. Silver is the new blonde and the mixed metallics look is an easier way to step into the grey tones. By mixing warm and cool tones into brown and blonde bases, you can experiment with the silver hues and still have a soft bronze or beige blonde base.
For the daring, going for all-over silver isn’t easy! It takes hours, and several lightening sessions to get the right base to achieve these true grey hues. Plan for both your budget and your time to be there! If you’re already blonde or have blonde dipped ends, choose the right silver for your look. I recommend going a little deeper than you initially think. Silver tones fade very quickly, so to get the grey to stay, I start with a level deeper than you may first consider. This helps blend your roots and can also give you the option of doing a color melt. This is a look that uses your natural depth and adds dark grey then stretches it into a lighter silver in the ends.
Maintenance is a must for these granny greys! Colour-safe, sulphate-free products are the only way to maintain your silver locks. Check out overtone.co for all your pastel and candy-coloured conditioners for at home maintenance while you shower! No more cool rinses or cold showers!
