Last year sparked new trends in footwear and we witnessed the rise in popularity of fur accents. Thanks to Rihanna and her collaboration with Puma, releasing the Fenty Fur Slides, this footwear became so popular that now you could find fur on shoes being sold everywhere, including Forever 21, Urban Planet and Aldo.
Although you may still have fur slides waiting to be slipped on this summer, 2018 has brought many new styles for us to try. This summer we’ve noticed a trend of empowerment and femininity in footwear. From athletic-looking shoes to block heels, we couldn’t be more excited for this season’s new fashionable trends. Here are a few of our favorites:
THE SANDAL SERIES
Sandals are essential footwear items to have in your collection. This year we’ve come across new designs, including skinny strap, gladiators, asymmetric designs and the famous platform sandals. We’ve noticed a trend of crystals, transparency and fun styles introduced this summer. Fur is dead, and handcrafted sandals are in. Check out these playful shoes you must have!
THE NEW SLIDES
In contrast to fur slides, the latest slides that you need to upgrade your wardrobe are the novelty slides. These colorful and whimsical slides are the perfect choice for summer and are made from materials such as plastic jelly uppers, nylon, suede and woven material.
IT’S A STRING FLING
Whether you’re heading to the beach or getting ready for patio drinks, this sandal will become your go-to footwear. Wrap the strings along your ankles and tie it in a bow. This chic and neutral footwear is both elegant and feminine to wear!
The magic of fashion – once you think a trend is gone forever, a few years later it reappears. The slingback pumps were popular in the late ’90s and early 2000’s and have now made their way back in the fashion scene. We’re definitely not upset about this trend because it’s a one-of-a-kind item to own. The best part about the slingback pump is that you can dress it up or keep it casual.
THE WESTERN BOOTIES
The Western-inspired booties are the perfect boots to wear to summer music festivals or for a girls night out. They’re comfortable, available in a short or long heel and are fitted at the ankle. We witnessed these booties all around Coachella this year!
THE FASHIONABLE SNEAKERS
These sneakers aren’t the average athletic shoes that you would wear when hiking or working out. They’re made to be seen on the streets and styled in a fashionable manner. From sneaker mules to hi-top shoes, these comfortable sneakers should definitely be on your to-purchase list.
