BORN TO DO THIS: Meet Carla Borges, JCI Fashion Grad & Artizia Workforce Planner

Born and raised in Brazil, Carla Dutra Borges moved to Vancouver a year ago to start a new life and career in the fashion industry— a major change from working as an industrial engineer back home. "When I was planning to move to Vancouver to study, I had two options: start a course related to my previous graduation and keep myself in the same field that I already had tons of experience in, or follow my dream to work in the fashion field." As you can guess, Carla decided to follow her passion and enroled in the Fashion Business & Creative Arts pr...

Are These Canadian Fashion Stereotypes True?

Canadians are known for many things: our unfailing politeness, our tendency to say “aboot” rather than “about”, our maple syrup… But if there’s one area where we’re often misrepresented, it’s got to be our fashion. Aritzia Visits JCI

It was a valuable networking opportunity for our fashion students and grads. Big thanks to JCI administrators Nicola and Sunja for organising this wonderful event!...

Despite a few long decades of evolution this wardrobe necessity has landed on the runway once again looking more modern than ever. Alicia Silverstone rocked it, your mom probably lived in it temporarily, and once again trendsetters are sporting the ridiculously cute fuzzy sweater. Fall fashion tends to be basic and versatile. This often leaves the ‘I need something new’ ache in any shopaholic’s heart. The fuzzy sweate...

Warm Bundle

When the Stella McCartney oversized wool coat sauntered down the runway during her fall/winter ready-to-wear fashion show, I had a “must-have” reaction. The oversized coat looks super chic and is a necessity for any fashionista’s wardrobe. However, as a student, buying a Stella McCartney wool coat is financially unattainable. So I found some less expensive options from Zara and Artizia that are on trend. Now my fall wardrobe won't be lacking in style. Andrea Young, JCI Fashion Student ...
