Lasya Tandava, it’s a wrap

This past Thursday, June 13th I had the honour of being apart of JCI class 140s graduating fashion show, Lasya Tandava. It was an experience to mark down in the history book of my 20 something life. Lasya Tandava was a fundraising fashion show production. The event supports youth battling eating disorders and raised awareness for The Looking Glass Foundation. With the combination of an absolutely unstoppable styling team, a diverse mix of garments, and a determined production team. It is safe to say all of our hard work paid off. A huge thanks to everyon...

Student Designers at Lasya Tandava

There are four students designing for the Lasya Tandava fashion show. I had the chance to talk to them about their inspiration and their future plans. I have always been an ambitious person. What inspired your designs for the show? I was looking at contemporary art and Japanese designers so I was influenced by new cuts and different unconventional uses of fabric. ...

Sand to Gobo! – The Lasya Tandava Runway

The process of designing the stage for Lasya Tandava has actually turned into quite a dilemma. Initially, the runway was excitedly proposed to be a dessert-like sand runway. This runway concept would have created a spectacular, long, rectangular, sand box! We had even found a sand sponsor! However, due to some complications with Performance Works who thought the sand may ruin their flooring and maypossibly grind away the runway, the sand box runway was trashed. We started back at square one and decided to ask Performance Works for their opinions. The stagin...

The Beat of Lasya Tandava

You hear the crack of a thunderous drum beat sending reverberations throughout your body, rattling you to the bones. Dum dum they toll, increasing in volume and depth. The faint screech of metal clangs somewhere and the percussion of elements hone in on you, spiraling downwards into a chaotic flurry of motion. Just when you think it’s all too much, when you think the destruction won’t stop, it all comes to a screeching halt. The war torn fires subtly blaze on and the dust settles to reveal the mysteries of what has just unfurled. Wind wisps graze your ...
