Admissions requirements

To apply to JCI Institute, students must meet our general admission requirements. We’ll walk you through your eligibility and requirements step by step when you connect with our team.

  • Students applying for admission to JCI Institute must meet the following admission requirements. No exemptions or waivers are permitted.

    • Applicants must have successfully completed Grade 12, or be a mature student (19 years of age or older) at the start of the program

    • Applicants must meet one of the language proficiency requirements listed below

  • All applicants, regardless of citizenship or country of origin, must demonstrate an appropriate level of English language proficiency. One of the following must be met:

    • Completion of 3 years of full-time secondary education (Grades 8–12), or 2 years if Grades 10–12, where English is the language of instruction

    • Completion of 2 years of full-time post-secondary education at an accredited institution where English is the language of instruction

    • Verified results from one of the following tests:

      • IELTS Academic: overall score of 5.5 or higher

      • CAEL: overall score of 40 or higher

      • Duolingo English Test: overall score of 95 or higher

  • Applicants who are 19 years or older at the start of the program and are Canadian citizens or permanent residents who cannot access their educational records must:

    • Provide attestation of at least 3 years of full-time instruction in English in a country where English is a principal language

    • Complete an Accuplacer English Assessment (Next Generation) with the following minimum scores:

      • Reading: 235

      • Writing: 235

      • WritePlacer: 4

  • International applicants must:

    • Submit a valid study permit (or co-op education work permit) through Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC)

    • Maintain British Columbia Medical Services Plan (MSP) coverage
