JCI Is Moving to Robson Street

After more than 35 years in our current home, JCI is entering an exciting new chapter.

In January 2026, we’ll open the doors to our brand-new campus at 1155 Robson Street—a custom-built, two-storey space designed specifically for our students and the way they learn. Bright, modern, and purposefully laid out, this new location will support hands-on education, cross-department collaboration, and real-world career prep like never before.

You’ll find us right in the heart of downtown Vancouver, on the city’s most iconic retail street—just steps from the Vancouver Art Gallery, surrounded by cafés, restaurants, and the energy of the creative community. With major transit hubs nearby, it’s a central, safe, and inspiring place to learn, grow, and connect.

A Space That Reflects Our Philosophy

We’ve always believed that environment shapes experience, and that creative careers require real connection—not just screens.

That’s why we’re investing in a fully custom campus with:

  • Dedicated studios and classrooms for each program area

  • A central student hub and kitchen designed for daily connection across departments

  • A multi-use event space for lectures, panel discussions, film screenings, photoshoots, pop-up shops, clothing swaps, and more

  • Design-forward interiors that reflect our students’ creativity and ambition

  • Tree-lined streets, big windows, and natural light—because beauty and function matter

From the layout to the location, this campus is designed to spark cross-disciplinary collaboration and help students build meaningful relationships—not only within their program, but across fashion, makeup, hair, and esthetics.

Built for In-Person, Career-Focused Learning

In a post-pandemic world, where remote learning is everywhere, we’re doubling down on what we know works: experiential education that happens in person, in real time, with real people.

Because whether you’re learning to cut hair, apply prosthetics, pitch a fashion brand, or manage a client, success in this industry isn’t just about technical skill. It’s about people skills. It’s about building presence, confidence, and adaptability—things you simply can’t learn in isolation.

Take our Hair Art Design Program: students are on the floor cutting hair on day two. Why? Because growth happens through doing—through trial and error, collaboration, and real client interaction.

This commitment to hands-on, industry-aligned education runs through all of our programs, and our new campus is being designed to support that learning at every level.

A New Era—Grounded in Legacy

We’re proud of our roots. For over three decades, our current space has been home to thousands of students, artists, educators, and alumni. It’s where countless careers were born, where late nights turned into portfolios, and where a tight-knit community took shape.

This move to Robson Street builds on that legacy—with a vision that meets the moment and sets the stage for what’s next.

As Vogue recently put it in their piece on the rise of Gen Z’s “wellness clubs”:

“Studies have shown that community and social connection are as important for a long, happy, healthy life as diet and exercise. In an era where digital connection remains the assumed norm...the yearning for a third place—a location for social interaction outside of home or work—has never been more present.”

That’s what we’re creating at 1155 Robson Street: a creative third space where students can show up daily, feel inspired, and connect with people beyond their discipline—whether they’re collaborating on a fashion show, attending a guest lecture, or simply sharing lunch in the hub.

Follow Along

As we build out the space, we’ll be sharing updates on Instagram—giving current and future students a front-row seat to the transformation. From construction sneak peeks to studio reveals, you’ll get to watch the vision come to life.

Whether you’re already part of the JCI community or just getting to know us, we can’t wait to welcome you into this next chapter.
