The JCI Mixer
A monthly photo shoot in The Frame. One brief, three disciplines, six looks—and portfolio work you’re excited to show off.
What it isThe JCI Mixer is a monthly creative collaboration that brings together fashion, hair, and makeup students to produce a professional editorial story in studio, in one day, from a shared brief.
It's a chance to work with students outside your program, build something together you couldn't make alone, and walk away with images that are portfolio-ready. No experience with editorial work required—just curiosity, your kit, and a willingness to collaborate.

What JCI Provides
We handle the studio infrastructure—you focus on the work.
3 models (one per team)
1 photographer (covering all three teams)
Full studio access in The Frame
Photography will capture editorial fashion images, as well as beauty and hair close-ups, so every student leaves with portfolio content from their looks.
Who it's for
The Mixer is open to current JCI students in fashion, hair, and makeup. Hair and Makeup students should be at least two months into their program—just enough time to have your footing and your kit together. Fashion students can join as soon as they're ready to concept and style.
You don't need to have done editorial work before. You just need to show up prepared, open to collaboration, and ready to contribute to both looks your team is building.
What to Bring
Your tools, kit, and supplies for both looks
Inspiration images and references for the theme
Any styling materials or supplies specific to your concept
The theme is shared when registration opens. Use the time before the event to connect with your teammates, share ideas, and come in aligned.
